The 5k course route is the same as the one used for last year’s 5k. It is a very fast downhill route along the roads in Rathfarnham and Terenure. It starts on Springfield Avenue, at the Tesco end of Rathfarnham Shopping Centre and finishes near the Rathfarnham Bridge on Lower Dodder Road. Please run the video on this page to check the 5k Route.  You can also run the course on the Map my Run route from your Smartphone so as to measure your training pace.  You can also print of this version Rathfarnham 5km Course Route.  It is a left hand course, designed for your safety. Please run inside the barriers at all times and obey the directions from the Gardai and race stewards. Be mindful of the Rules of the Road so as to make the event safe for all.

Traffic Management

Please note that Dodder View Road will be closed from about 9.00 to 11.00 to accomodate the Juvenile and the 5k races. From Rathfarnham Road up to Terenure cross, the left hand lane will be closed for runners and you will be coned off from the traffic coming in the opposite direction. The same lane will be closed on Templeogue Road up to the sliplane at the Templeville Road Junction. Keep inside these cones at all times. To ensure your safety the two lanes on Dodder View Road will be closed until after the 5k race finishes. Runners are not allowed to run on the Cycle Lane at Dodder View Road. Severe traffic restrictions and detours will apply for the race series. As you head back to Terenure College or back to your car, please keep to the paths as all roads will be open to traffic shortly after the last runner finishes.
